About Our Opportunity

As a member of the Privacy Program Team, reporting to the Manager, Privacy Program, you will be part of the development and implementation of a comprehensive privacy program for government. You will fill a key role in the implementation of the Corporate Privacy Framework to ensure that privacy is integrated across government.

Primary Accountabilities

  • responsible for researching, planning, developing, and evaluating program control, procedures, guidelines, and processes that support a robust Corporate Privacy Program.
  • undertake research, analysis, and development of policy options, including literature searches, consultations with other jurisdictions and general research on global policy issues.
  • monitors media and other news sources to ensure timely identification of privacy issues.
  • position IAP Services as a leader on privacy matters by putting forth research and options that are current and innovative in a dynamic and ever-changing technology environment.
  • support the development of privacy impact assessments, information sharing agreements and research agreements specifically in the areas of legislative compliance.
  • collaborate with team members and client departments to develop processes and procedures that are current and innovative and are responsive to client needs.
  • initiate, lead and participate in meetings, conference calls, etc... relating to analyses and development of privacy related policies and other supporting documents
  • prepare communications, briefing notes, correspondence, and training materials on privacy issues
Qualifications and Experience

As the successful candidate, you have a bachelor\'s degree preferably in public administration or information management and 5 year\'s related experience; or master\'s degree and 3 year\'s related experience. Other acceptable equivalents may be considered.

Your resume must clearly demonstrate the following:
  • knowledge of privacy legislation and policy frameworks within the Nova Scotia government as well as other relevant legislation at the provincial, federal and international levels
  • analytical, research and critical thinking skills to resolve complex issues, identify options and make recommendations.
  • you understand policy development to participate in the development of options and strategies for privacy protection.
  • you can prepare comprehensive reports, options analysis, briefing materials and presentations that propose responses on privacy issues.
  • you have a knowledge of information technology concepts and processes (such as mobility, cloud computing, digital services, etc..) that impact on the protection of personal information.
  • you have excellent people skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization to gain support.
  • excellent writing skills to create procedures, guidelines, and other written documentation
  • a strong client service orientation.
  • you are well organized, flexible, and adaptable to ever changing priorities.
  • you are self-motivated, with a high degree of initiative, and ability to manage projects to ensure they are completed on time
  • the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within and lead cross-functional teams

Pay Grade: PR 13

Salary Range: $2,469.30 - $3,001.65 Bi-Weekly
