Job Description


Globe 24-7 in partnership with their client in Toronto, Canada is looking to fill a Principal Engineer, Metallurgy & Process position.

The client is an intermediate gold producer engaged in the exploration, development and operation of their wholly-owned property in Mexico. The Company is based in Canada, with their Corporate Office located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The Principal Engineer, Metallurgy and Processing will be accountable for the management and development of systems and processes related to the efficient processing of ore. This is a corporate-based, full-time, permanent position, with frequent travel to site required. Our client offers a hybrid work model for corporate office employees.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

Efficient Processing of Ore

  • Managing the ongoing production planning through Establishment of Processing (Milling) rates based on characteristics of the Ore
  • Forecasting the uptime of each facility to advise operations on optimal amount of uptime through the identification of appropriate internal and external benchmarks
  • Provides advice and guidance to plant metallurgy group on metallurgical testing programs and standards
  • Provides framework for equipment standards of use, verifies equipment is running effectively at each Plant within established parameters
  • Developing of metallurgy and processing reporting standards for site and corporate
  • Establishes benchmarks and standards for site performance against budget; analyzes reports and produces overall summary of deviations
  • Work with site to determine mitigation strategies as appropriate
  • Analyze KPIs to establish recommended guidance on operating costs; analyzes reports and produces overall cost report
Ore Production Governance and Strategy
  • Contributes to the delivery of the long-term processing rates and metals component of the LOM Plans through research and calculations
  • Audits sites for adherence to short-term and medium-term processing rates and the metal component of LOM Plans
  • Reviews monthly Metallurgical Accounting reports, ensuring there is integrity in the numbers reported; reports any anomalies to Team Leader
  • Investigates root cause of discrepancies in Metallurgy Accounting reports and work with site leadership to develop plans to mitigate
  • Contributes to the analysis of mining data to provide guidance to internal teams through research and calculations
  • Supports the development of the long-term strategy to optimize the processing of ore across all processing facilities through research and calculations
Supports M&A Prospects
  • Supports the technical due diligence for metallurgy and processing-related aspects required for future M&A prospects
THE REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Chemical, Metallurgical, or Mineral Processing Engineering
  • Professional Engineer designation
  • 15+ years of progressive technical, operational, engineering, and management experience with at least 10 years in process operations
  • Experience in precious and base metals processing, including water systems and tailings management
  • Experience in life-of-mine planning, including budgeting and metal planning
  • Experience in metallurgical accounting principles and standards
  • Experience in gold mining is preferred
Knowledge & Skills:
  • Proven experience establishing, measuring, and communicating all aspects of business performance
  • Ability to present to and collaborate with peer corporate leaders and site leaders
  • Knowledge of metals marketing
  • Ability to work in multicultural environments
  • Spanish language knowledge (written, spoken, and read)
