We are looking for a Prepress Technician for our Guelph Facility
Responsibilities
Receive and review customer-provided digital files for print jobs
Verify files for proper format, resolution, and color separation
Make necessary adjustments and corrections to ensure print quality
Utilize pre-press software and design tools to manipulate and enhance graphics for optimal printing results
Prepare layouts, impose artwork, and set up templates for printing
Implement and maintain color profiles to ensure accurate color reproduction
Perform color calibration on proofing equipment and printing presses
Generate digital or physical proofs for customer approval
Create printing plates using computer-to-plate (CTP) technology
Ensure the accuracy of plate registration and quality of imaged plates
Set up printing parameters, including ink settings, registration marks, and cutting guides
Collaborate with press operators to fine-tune print settings for optimal results
Maintain effective communication with design, production, and quality control teams
Relay job specifications and any necessary information to ensure smooth production processes
Perform quality checks on printed materials to ensure they meet the required standards
Address and rectify any issues related to color accuracy, registration, or print defects
Perform other duties as assigned
Demonstrate a deliberate focus on Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, and Customer Satisfaction
Qualifications/Skills Required
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in graphic design or a related field is preferred
Experience as a prepress technician or similar discipline preferred
Proficiency in pre-press software and design tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite
Knowledge of printing processes, color management, and file preparation
Familiarity with computer-to-plate (CTP) technology
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
Mac experience a definite asset
Physical Requirements
Be able to lift objects weighing 15-20 pounds safely and effectively, with the capability to lift more if required
Stand for extended periods
Maintain good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
Sustain physical endurance for a fast-paced work environment
Operate and work near machinery safely
