Overlooking iconic fishing boats, Margaret's is a cozy East Coast cafe serving freshly brewed coffee and tea, Maritime inspired baked goods, seafood chowder, and delicious gourmet paninis.
Margaret's Cafe is seeking a reliable, hardworking, passionate, creative, and detail-oriented person to assist with preparing and cooking a variety of dishes, ensuring that the food is of high quality, while maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking, an interest in gaining new culinary skills, and the ability to work in a positive fast paced environment. This individual will report directly to the head Chef.
Required Skills/Knowledge
Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
Ability to maintain a positive attitude, especially while under pressure
Prep cook experience preferred.
Capacity to work as an individual and as part of a team.
Excellent customer service skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong attention to detail, ability to follow directions, cooking techniques and recipes.
Willingness to help with any task as required, including duties not listed within the scope of this job description.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time, and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
What You'll Do:
Prepare all required food prep tasks efficiently and accurately.
Ensure that food quality standards, safety standards, and recipes are adhered to.
Receiving, handling, replenishing, and processing incoming food products.
Assisting with maintaining a clean, safe and positive working environment.
Monitor physical surroundings in assigned area prior to and throughout the day for safety, cleanliness, functionality, and sanitation guidelines.
Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure orders are prepared in a timely manner.
Ensure all equipment is in working order, and report any issues to the head Chef
Daily cleaning of the kitchen, including daily, weekly, and monthly tasks lists.
The preferred candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced culinary environment; have a passion for cooking and be motivated to improve; be comfortable working independently as well as with a team; be an energetic self-starter; be responsible, reliable, organized, positive, and professional.
Job Types: Seasonal - Seasonal Full and Part time
Contract length: 7-8 months
Wage: $18.00-20.00 per hour based on relevant experience, plus tips.
