The Used Car Sales Manager is responsible for leading and managing the pre-owned vehicle department. This includes maximizing vehicle sales, gross profit, customer satisfaction, and inventory control. The ideal candidate is a motivated leader with proven success in used car operations, customer retention, and sales team development.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead all aspects of the used car sales department, including inventory, pricing strategy, appraisals, and reconditioning.
Recruit, train, and coach the sales team to meet and exceed sales goals.
Desk used car deals and, when necessary, support the new car sales department by desking new car deals in coordination with the General Sales Manager.
Monitor daily operating control reports and adjust plans to achieve profitability targets.
Oversee customer interactions to ensure a high level of satisfaction and resolve escalated issues promptly.
Collaborate with the General Manager on monthly forecasting and strategic planning.
Maintain optimal inventory levels and mix by working closely with buyers and wholesalers.
Ensure compliance with OMVIC regulations affecting sales and finance processes.
Implement and maintain CRM processes to follow up with leads and past customers.
Support digital and lot merchandising to maximize visibility of used vehicle inventory.
Conduct regular sales meetings and performance reviews with the sales staff.
Required Skills and Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years of management experience in used car sales or automotive retail.
Strong leadership and team-building skills.
In-depth knowledge of used vehicle market trends, appraisal tools, and inventory turn strategies.
Proficient in CRM, DMS systems, and online inventory tools (e.g., vAuto).
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to analyze data and make sound business decisions.
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
