JOB INFO

As the PLT Apprentice you are expected to be engaged in our safety program, executing work in a safe manner, in adherence with CANA policies and all applicable code regulations and the Act.

• This position entails physically demanding motions and tasks.
• The work requires commuting to different sites in and around the Calgary area.
• With projects across Western Canada, travel and shift work may be required.
• CANA Energy operates year-round and outdoors in all types of terrain and environments.
• The work is in electrical construction, maintenance, repair and testing of energized and de-energized distribution and transmission systems.

o Will be on underground facilities.

YOU WILL

• Install, maintain and repair underground power lines and cables, conductors, switches, transformers and other associated equipment
• Splicing of underground cables and terminations of transformers
• Install and terminate various different types of streetlights
• Install various types of precast concrete vaults and bases
• Underground installations:

o switchgears, cables, testing methods, protective grounding, automation components and working in evacuations, manholes and vaults


YOU WILL NEED

• Must be an indentured apprentice registered with the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training board, or another provincial equivalent.
• Knowledge of the construction and maintenance of underground cable installations.
• Valid Class 5 Vehicle Operator's License.
• Reliable transportation to commute to various job sites
• A successful Pre-Employment Assessment that includes screening for Drug & Alcohol and the ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly

NICE TO HAVE

• Class 3 or 1 license
• Equipment and RBD operating experience
• Experience in underground splicing and terminating
