Position Overview




The Powder Coater is responsible for preparing, applying, and finishing powder coatings on metal or other conductive substrates. This role involves operating spraying equipment or automated lines, curing coatings in ovens, inspecting quality, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment. Attention to detail and adherence to specifications and production schedules are essential.


Key Responsibilities




Prepare surfaces for powder coating: degreasing, blasting, sanding, masking, hanging parts. Set up and operate powder coating equipment, including spray booths, manual or automatic guns, and curing ovens. Apply powder coatings according to work orders or blueprints, ensuring correct colour, thickness, and finish. Inspect coated parts for quality, adhesion, coverage, and finish consistency; perform touch-ups or rework if necessary. Maintain the coating area and equipment: clean spray booths, replace filters, manage powder inventory and colour changes. Follow safety, environmental and quality control procedures (use of PPE, handling of chemicals, housekeeping). Collaborate with the finishing team, meet production schedules, and maintain reliable attendance and performance.

Qualifications & Skills




High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience (3+ years) in powder coating or industrial finishing preferred. Ability to read and interpret work orders, specifications or blueprints. Good mechanical aptitude and familiarity with spray coating equipment, ovens, and other finishing tools. Strong attention to detail, excellent hand-eye coordination, and ability to focus on quality. Physically able to stand for long periods, lift and move parts (up to ~50 lbs), and perform repetitive motions. Basic computer skills and ability to log job details or inspect reports is a plus. Team-oriented, reliable, and safety-conscious.

Working Conditions




On site in a manufacturing or finishing environment: spray booths, curing ovens, metal parts. Exposure to powder dust, heat from ovens, and noise; use of PPE required. * Typical shifts: Monday-Friday, day shift; overtime may be required.
