Policy Officer

Panel Review

Full-time, 2-year term position, working 75 hours bi-weekly

$95,353.40 - $110,164.73

A hiring preference will apply for qualified candidates of Canadian Indigenous ancestry, with a priority for qualified Yukon First Nation candidates.

Secondments from Yukon First Nation or other governments will be considered.

Eligibility

  • Undergraduate degree and/or post-secondary training in public policy, political science, public administration, governance, public relations, environmental science, social science, or a similar field is preferred. Relevant work experience may be considered
  • Experience in policy development is required
  • General knowledge of the Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Act, as well as Yukon First Nations and First Nations Agreements, is required
  • Experience working in a First Nation government is considered an asset

The Policy Officer for Panel Review may work from one of YESAB\'s six designated office locations, which are:

Dawson City - Haines Junction - Mayo - Teslin - Watson Lake - Whitehorse

Relocation incentives may be available for certain locations

The , reporting to the Panel and Hearing Manager, will be a part of the Team. Currently the Panel Review Team is working on the . As a part of this Panel Review, and any future projects, the Policy Officer is responsible for:
  • The coordination, research and development of Panel Review guidance documents, policies, systems, standards, procedures, and processes as set out in YESAB\'s Assessment Framework, which includes YESAA, regulations, Board Rules and policies.
  • Assisting in the design and delivery of education materials and training
  • Providing recommendations and advice to YESAB Board members and staff
  • Providing information about the Panel Review process to project proponents, communities, stakeholder groups, and the public
  • Management and facilitation of discussions as part of the policy development process and
  • Management of the policy approval process
  • Liaising with other jurisdictions, in particular northern impact assessment agencies, and maintaining best practices in impact assessments
