Visit us today and check out to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.About the OpportunityThe Planning and Development Officer (Public Policy Analyst), Healthy Communities, Science and System Performance (SSP) leads the development of healthy communities through in-depth policy analysis, understanding of the context and factors influencing policy decisions, and developing policy tools including discussion papers, reviews, and briefing notes. The Public Policy Analyst brings expertise in public policy methods, processes, and tools, an understanding of jurisdictional boundaries, and the capacity to identify the health impacts of policy decisions in other sectors. The Policy Analyst contributes to the development of system and program performance measures and accountability frameworks for the healthy communities program.The Public Policy Analyst works in collaboration with colleagues in Public Health and government colleagues at multiple levels. They work with multiple partners to influence policy decisions through the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, local community factors, and other forms of evidence. They work with others to develop tools such as health impact assessment, advocacy framework, and monitoring and reporting of policy actionAbout YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Master\'s in public health, health promotion or other relevant field with 3 - 5 years relevant experience OR Baccalaureate degree in health promotion, sociology or other relevant field with 5-7 years relevant experience
  • Experience in the development of tools and processes such as health impact analysis, indicator and monitoring tools, advocacy policy and frameworks.
  • Experience conducting literature reviews and appraisal and synthesis of research to inform practice.
  • Experience in public policy development and analysis at municipal, provincial or national level.
  • Experience working with qualitative and quantitative data, including appropriate communications methods for policy decisions.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret statistical and qualitative data and performance indicators and benchmarks.
  • Excellent communication skills, with adaptability for different stakeholders, audiences and tools.
  • Experience in building strategic partnerships, networks, coalitions, and collaborative working relationships with a variety of internal and external partners.
  • Demonstrated judgment, decision making, and problem solving skills
  • Excellent time management skills, including priority setting and work organization.
  • Demonstrated high standards of ethics, integrity, respect and accountability.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred
