What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

  • Lead, plan, and coordinate policy research projects, including preparing requests for proposals and negotiating contracts and agreements;
  • Develop and present reports, policy option, analysis and recommendations to senior management for decision making purposes;
  • Build and develop critical stakeholder relationships to develop consensus, and identify concerns and issues;
  • Lead/represent the Ministry on inter-ministerial committees.


How do I qualify?

Mandatory

  • You must possess oral and written French language skills at the advanced level. Your proficiency level will be confirmed before hire.


Project Management and Research Skills:

  • You have experience leading projects;
  • You can gather, evaluate, interpret, analyze and extract relevant economic data to support the policy development process;
  • You are proficient with various computer applications to research and prepare own materials.


Communication and Relationship Management Skills:

  • You can respond to issues, provide/present recommendations, and discuss policy proposals;
  • You can develop a range of reports, options and briefing papers and other products;
  • You demonstrate effective consultation and negotiation skills;
  • You have strong partnership building and influencing skills to promote and achieve acceptance of recommended approach.


Analytical Skills:

  • You can lead and coordinate development of policy/program option;
  • You can identify issues impacting the need for changes in policy, and develop innovative approaches to policy and program delivery;
  • You are able to assess both qualitative and quantitative information.


Technical and Legislative Knowledge:

  • You have the ability to acquire knowledge of relevant strategic directions, programs, policies, and related legislation such as the French-Language Services Act;
  • You have a strong understanding of Ontario's Francophone community, its culture, its concerns, and its organization;
  • You are familiar with government decision making processes.
