Position Summary
Undertakes strategy, policy, evaluation, and research functions for all Health Benefit areas, Pharmacy, Dental, Medical Supplies & Equipment, Vision, Crisis Mental Health, and Medical Transportation.
As a health and wellness organization, the First Nations Health Authority has aligned with the Provincial Public Health Order released on October 14, 2021. We have a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all employees at First Nations Health Authority. This policy requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. If selected for employment, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination by providing a copy of your BC Vaccination Card Passport with the QR code.
Responsibilities
Reviews and revises current policy and guidelines for each benefit area based on senior management direction
Conducts research and analysis and prepares briefings, reports, publications, strategies, discussion papers, summaries and other documents to support Health Benefits policy and planning
Prepares or oversees the preparation of presentations, including making presentations as required
Develops, recommends and implements new initiatives, policy and/or research projects under direction of the Manager
Coordinates activities and information flow related to the initiatives/projects developed

Qualifications
Education
A University degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Experience
Recent, relevant and significant experience in research, analysis, policy development and report preparation related to the Health or Social services sector (Significant usually defined as 3-5 years of experience, and recent usually defined as experience acquired in the last 3-7 years)
Experience working with First Nations leadership and communities
Experience in policy development and analysis (ideally in the health sector or with First Nations issues and priorities)
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
Knowledge
Knowledge of health benefits as it relates to First Nations
Knowledge of BC First Nations communities, their health governance model and issues facing them relative to health and wellness
Abilities
Ability to collaborate and work effectively with others
Ability to conduct research and analysis, including clearly identifying and defining policy issues, providing analysis to a high professional standard, and designing and evaluating policy options from a First Nations viewpoint
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing, including public speaking, and not taking skills
Ability to translate complex concepts into easily understood and audience appropriate briefing notes, reports and presentations
