We require a full-time Plumbing / Gas / HVAC Service Technician for our Commercial Maintenance & Service division.

Position Description



Summary of Key Responsibilities

Perform installations, maintenance, and repairs of all plumbing, heating, gas piping, HVAC and other related equipment at a certified trade level. Expected duties will be in alignment with, but not limited to, the blocks, tasks, sub-tasks and key competencies identified in the Red Seal National Plumber Occupational Analysis. Ensure the work assigned is completed as required and in compliance with specifications, standards, procedures and all relevant Plumbing & Gas Codes. Responsible to become familiar with all existing current building & future structures and systems, as well as acquire knowledge of new trends, techniques, codes and equipment as they become relevant to the operation of buildings GI Mechanical Services maintains. Ensure that equipment, workspaces, and tools supplied by the GI Mechanical Services are used for their intended purposes and are maintained in a safe working order. Manage time effectively and ensure immediate supervisor is kept informed of activities, and progress of work. Provide customer service by pleasantly and respectfully interacting with co-workers, supervisors, contractors, consultants, suppliers, others as well as evaluating customer satisfaction. Discretion, confidentiality, and attention to detail is always maintained. Meet all ongoing OHS initiatives, follows GI Mechanical Services Ltd OHS policies, procedures and OHS Legislation as required; ensuring personal, public and co-worker safety when completing tasks or engaging in potentially hazardous situations. Ensure regular work attendance and timely reporting for start of shift in a clean and professional appearance. Ensure paperwork service reports, time on job, timesheets are sent in daily. Other duties as deemed necessary

Qualifications / Requirements:



The following is required for this position:

Mandatory Provincial or interprovincial Plumbing & Gas Trade Certification with 3-5 years of experience within the Service industry. Indentured Apprentice in years 3 to 4 will be considered. Preference given to candidates with Red Seal Plumbing & Gas-fitting Classes A & B, Steam Fitting and/or Cross Connection Control Testing Certificates. Hold a valid minimum Class 5 Alberta Drivers License with less than 7 demerit points. Learners, probationary, graduated license, or motorcycle/moped only license will not be acceptable. A drivers abstract will be requested. Good working knowledge of the Canadian Plumbing & Gas Code Code. Physical strength and stamina to lift varying heavy loads, be on feet for long periods of time and sometimes work in cramped positions. Mechanical ability to be able to use hand and power tools, be able to work on ladders at various heights, and demonstrate a safety-conscious attitude. Able and willing to work in a variety of environments, including office settings, classrooms, hospitality, hotels, mechanical rooms, service tunnels Able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Ability to work with others in a team environment including mentoring and sharing knowledge with apprentices and co-workers. Work independently with minimal supervision to complete tasks assigned in a timely manner. Proven record of upgrading and updating applicable trade skills and staying current with industry trends. Proven record of providing superior customer service including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Listen to and understand information and ideas presented and have ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Experience in the Service Industry required. Valid safety certifications such as First Aid, WHMIS, TDG, CSTS, PSTS, Fall Protection, AWP, H2S Alive, considered an asset. Clear criminal record, ability to pass Government Security Clearance Valid Journeyperson Plumber / with Gasfitter "A" or "B" certification Must be able to use Microsoft office suite including word, e-mail, mobile communication devices, such as iPhone, Smartphone etc.
