Job Description


Overview:
In a team environment under the direction of the manager of generation support, your function as a Plant Superintendent in Jean Marie River will be to operate and maintain power generation facilities and ensure the safe, efficient and reliable supply of electricity to the community. Also to represent and support corporate programs, you will be expected to be on call, and to respond to outages. A list of the tasks that you will be responsible for are as follows: daily, weekly, monthly reports. Plant housekeeping of the facilities, the maintenance and upkeep of the plant grounds and fences. Other tasks are, perform starts and stops for diesel engines, gas engines. Prepare and monitor units, plants, and equipment for standby conditions. Assists with preventative maintenance and over-hauls on units, plants auxiliary equipment and so on as per maintenance schedules, works with operations to maintain plant operating efficiencies. Customer service work including meter change outs. You also will be encouraged to have an excellent knowledge of our safety regulations and procedures and work protection practices. Responsibilities:

  • Always work safely, adhere to all aspects of the NTPC Health & Safety and Environmental programs, comply with all rules & regulations, and continually practice health & safety while performing any duties.
  • Start and stop diesel engines, as per operational requirements.
  • Prepare and monitor units, plants and equipment for standby condition.
  • Inspect and maintain plant, tank farm, yard, transient trailer, and all other associated equipment. Report any unusual conditions immediately to supervisor.
  • Perform customer service work.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two (2) years\xe2\x80\x99 related mechanical or electrical experience required.
  • Must undergo a Successful Criminal Records Check.



This is a bargaining unit position. This is a permanent part time position with a 30-hour week. Salary for this position ranges from $37.60/hr-$45.68/hr.
