Plant Superintendent (Full Time) - Fort Saskatchewan, AB

Primary Purpose
This position is responsible for the safe and reliable operation of an automated Natural Gas Liquification facility located in Fort Saskatchewan, AB.

Key Accountabilities
Reporting to the Regional Manager, the incumbent will manage all aspects of the LNG facility operation.

Safety/Environment:

  • Creating and managing facility Emergency Plans
  • Ensuring conformance with applicable regulations and policies
  • Managing accident/incident reporting and investigation
  • Completing audit/incident action plans
  • Manage the safety work order system, including reporting and retaining of records.
  • Conduct safety meetings and inspections \xe2\x80\x93 escalating as required any safety and environmental issues.
Management:
  • Planning and managing day to day operation of the facility
  • Interfacing with internal customers and communicating plant status
  • Monitoring QA performance and ensuring requirements are met
  • Budget management and reporting (both expense and capital)
  • Capital expenditure management and reporting
  • Managing or performing required reporting
  • Monitoring and arranging or performing required training.
Operations and Maintenance:
  • Creating and managing facility SSOP\xe2\x80\x99s
  • Monitoring the \xe2\x80\x9cautomated\xe2\x80\x9d operation of the facility and responding as appropriate to process alarms
  • Work to ensure consistent plant operation by monitoring key performance indicators for improvement areas.
  • Use troubleshooting skills to resolve process related deviations and problems
  • Manage and escalate, as required, equipment failures, production upsets, quality or product delivery issues
  • Performing minor PM\xe2\x80\x99s, repairs and improvements and basic calibrations
  • Manage the maintenance work order system to schedule routine work, ensure equipment inspections are completed, improve equipment reliability, and document activities.
  • Planning and executing plant maintenance turnarounds - arranging other internal resources or outside contractors as required
  • Sourcing parts and materials required to achieve maintenance and scheduling objectives (including critical spares).
  • Establishing and maintaining local contractor support resources
  • Communicate to customers, stake holders, etc. as needed
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Education
  • Possess a university degree or college diploma in a related field (Instrumentation/Controls preferred), with a minimum of 3 years plant/process experience.
Experience
  • Knowledge of industrial gases processes (especially Natural Gas and Nitrogen) is considered an asset
  • Previous Management Experience
  • An ability to work independently in an organized manner
  • Experience with instrumentation, controls, electrical and mechanical systems
  • Good technical reading and writing skills and an ability to handle paperwork
  • Good computer, communication, and team interaction skills

  • Accurate and detail oriented
  • Organized, self-motivated and driven
  • A team player who is able to work within tight deadlines
  • Must have a current and valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license with reliable transportation to and from work
  • An extreme respect for safety expectations and protocols
Physical and Sensory Demands:
  • Must be able to lift up to 25kg.
Working Environment:
  • Office and Plant based-work, fixed schedule is flexible Monday-Fridays
  • Afterhours support required
10% travel required outside of the Fort Saskatchewan area
