Our Christina Lake Operations Team is currently recruiting for a Plant Operator, SCU (Steam, Cogeneration & Utilities) to join our team.

Reporting to the Coordinator, SCU Shift Engineer, the Plant Operator, SCU will effectively participate as a team member in the operation of Cenovus\xe2\x80\x99 Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) facilities. The Plant Operator, SCU is trained and competent in the operation of one or more areas of the process facility.

Work Environment:

  • This is a full-time employee position working a shift of 8 days on 6 days off, 12 hours per day on days 2-7, 6 hours on days 1 & 8, Tuesday to Tuesday, rotating days, and nights.

  • Christina Lake has full-service camp facilities.

  • Depending on your place of residence and your shift rotation, bus and/or air transportation to/from site is offered from designated departure points in select locations.

  • Christina Lake is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton as well as bus transportation to site from La Corey, AB. and Lac La Biche, AB


Responsibilities:

  • Support maintenance schedule by preparing equipment for scheduled work

  • Responsible for executing work while meeting regulatory obligations and commitments

  • Conduct testing as required, document and take action on results

  • Execute LOTO procedures

  • Implement LOTO, walk workers through LOTO, hand LOTO over

  • Execute readings and rounds, document and take action on results

  • Execute housekeeping activities, document, and take action as require

  • Support reporting by providing results, data as required

  • Execute day-to-day operations and ensure activities are focused on safety, production, compliance, etc. and aligned with business needs and priorities:

  • Execute troubleshooting analysis

  • Initiate troubleshooting activities for all abnormal operational events and take corrective actions as necessary

  • Execute and support performance management

  • Perform safety checks and audits:

  • Conduct walk-arounds, participate in formal safety audits; LOTO, HSE audits

  • Monitor and ensure regulatory compliance

  • Perform regulatory compliance checks and reporting requirements

  • May also be responsible for executing commissioning and start-up processes, as required


Qualifications:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

  • Minimum 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 Operating experience

  • Relevant experience in cyclic steam or SAGD thermal recovery heavy oil operations would be an asset

  • Must Possess a 3rd Class Power Engineer Certificate, with preference given to those holding a 2nd Class Certificate

  • A safety champion who will drive the health of our workplace and promote a \xe2\x80\x9czero\xe2\x80\x9d incident safety culture

  • A decisive, resilient personality who, as an integral member of a multi\xe2\x80\x90disciplinary team will catalyze and sustain dialogue to influence, persuade and drive operational and performance excellence

  • An effective coach with the ability to recognize, recruit, develop, reward, and retain top talent, and

  • This role is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to the relevant requirements of the Cenovus Drug and Alcohol policy which includes pre-assignment testing

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft office suite

  • Possess a valid Class 5 Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License
