Overview:
Under the general supervision and direction of the Generation Group Leader, this position is responsible for the day-to-day operation and routine maintenance and housekeeping of the Inuvik Plant engines and the associated auxiliary equipment, as well as responsible for maintenance and upkeep of Plant grounds and fences. Responsibilities:

  • Always work safely adhere to all aspects of the NTPC Health and safety and environmental programs, comply with all rules and regulations, and continually practice health and safety while performing any duties.
  • Housekeeping of the two power plants is a major task that the incumbent will be required to complete.
  • Apply for, receive, and interpret Work Protection Code applications.
  • Under the direction of the Generation Group Leader de- energise and isolate / energise and return to service, units, plants, and their respective auxiliary equipment as per Work Protection Code procedures.
  • Immediately attempt to identify and rectify any unsafe or potentially hazardous condition at or around the work site. If unable to rectify, incumbent must immediately notify supervisor and anyone that may be affected by the condition.
  • Inspect and maintain tank farm on a daily bases, LNG tank farm also get to know how the LNG tank Farm system operates to assist drivers with any issues and orientations as needed, fuel transfer lines and pump houses, and fuel tank levels. Report any unusual conditions immediately to supervisor.
  • Maintain buildings as to a safe, clean manner. Entrances / exits clear of snow and debris, combustible materials stored in proper locations. Emergency lighting and exit signs tested and serviced as needed. Tools and equipment properly stored. Floors swept and washed.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required, along with two or more years related mechanical or electrical experience. Equivalencies may be considered.
  • Training/experience in power engineering, building maintenance or electrical/mechanical would be considered an asset.
  • Must be willing to work 12-hour shifts, 3 days on, 3 days off.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver?s License (or equivalent) required.
  • Must undergo a successful criminal record check.

This is a bargaining unit position. Salary for this position ranges from $38.75/hr-$47.07/hr. We offer a comprehensive benefits package which includes health and dental benefits, long-term disability, life insurance, paid sick days and a defined benefits pension plan.
