Position: Plant Grower - Nursery (NOC 0822) Wage rate: $24/hr Job type: Permanent, Full time. Language: English Start date of employment: As soon as possible Education: Completion of a college program in horticulture or university degree in agriculture. Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in related field Position available: 1 Work Location: Langley, BC Business Location: Langley, BC Job Duties: \xc2\xb7 The applicant must have a good understanding of plant health, common disease, and insect lifecycles, capable of effectively managing key growth factors such as nutrition, pest and disease, watering practices, environmental controls and equipment, etc. \xc2\xb7 Ability to work well with employees to ensure activities that relate to growing are being done using techniques that are efficient and meet or improve quality control standards. \xc2\xb7 Must effectively monitor developmental factors such as nutrition, pest and disease, moisture, light levels and communicates with staff in order to maintain quality control. \xc2\xb7 Maintains a current knowledge of growing techniques and growing equipment within the industry and provides input into equipment and facility upgrades and replacements. \xc2\xb7 Establish the environmental conditions required to grow shrubs, flowers and plants \xc2\xb7 Supervise staff in planting, transplanting, feeding and spraying stock \xc2\xb7 Order materials such as fertilizer, garden and lawn care equipment, and other nursery and greenhouse related accessories Working Conditions: \xc2\xb7 Work in wet, damp, strong odours, dust, cold environments, outdoors, noisy. \xc2\xb7 Heavy workloads, stand, bend, crouch, and kneel. \xc2\xb7 Job is physically demanding, ability to lift 50 lbs or more. • 8 hour shift
• Morning shift
