Description and Requirements

The IDG WW Marketing team is presently hiring a Planning & Strategy Lead within the IDG Marketing Operations organization.

Lenovo is looking for an experienced Marketing Operations leader to drive the end-to-end strategy and planning process. The ideal candidate will have extensive strategy and operations experience, excellent communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate is responsible for developing and delivering a global marketing management system (BMS) that will ensure IDG marketing investments are aligned to support both global strategic priorities and geo defined critical initiatives. Through the BMS we will ensure that marketing plans are well defined (including strategy, goals, objectives, and performance targets) and that we are maximizing the use of our non-working dollars through efficient execution of our global marketing initiatives. This leader will manage a series of reviews and interlocks to ensure we have shared visibility to all global and geo IDG marketing plans and that the plans are reviewed and approved prior to execution. In addition, performance reviews will be conducted each quarter for best practice sharing and alignment to performance management principles. The review process will also include Creative Reviews, Sponsorship Reviews, and Event / PR Comms reviews to ensure that marketing investments are being managed in a coordinated and cohesive way aligned to an overall strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement a BMS to drive alignment to a common set of strategic marketing principles for IDG marketing investments. Implement a planning cadence and calendar to ensure campaign execution aligns to marketing plans and delivers against global marketing objectives.
  • Integrate the new BMS milestones with existing planning and review cadences (Creative Steerco, Staff, MLTs) to ensure streamlined end to end planning and review cycles without duplications or gaps.
  • Establish KPIs for a global IDG marketing organization and work with the Analytics & Reporting team to measure, track, and report on performance against those KPIs.
  • Establish principles for alignment of marketing investment with business priorities and marketing priorities across organizations (Global & Geo).
  • Collaborate with Geo and Segment leads to establish principles for allocation and utilization of Strategic ATL budgets.
  • Identify operational objectives to measure and track the impact of the BMS on marketing executions (Operations Dashboard)
  • Identify opportunities for centralization & common processes across Geo Marketing and IDG HQ Marketing
  • Provide input to the Budget Management team on digital transformation for planning tools (Anaplan for example)
  • Communicate clearly on the implementation status of the BMS to key stakeholders and executives.
  • Understand and deploy the BMS with consideration for the strategic impact on the broader Lenovo business. Apply critical thinking skills to analyze and interpret information in an open-minded and transparent fashion and to work collaboratively with the stakeholders to identify suitable solutions to issues and challenges.
  • Apply leadership skills to demonstrate initiative, effect change, and drive progress in this transformational period to support the overall IDG marketing imperatives.
Position Requirements:
  • Expertise and experience with Marketing Planning, campaign development; deployment; measurement and performance tracking (minimum 5 years experience)
  • Strong capability in project management discipline to effectively manage and support the deployment of a global BMS.
  • Strong ability to identify, develop, quantify, escalate, and manage corrective action plans as necessary
  • Strong ability to ensure that effective controls are in place to monitor program performance
  • Strong capability at providing effective performance reporting to monitor the progress of the project (multiple stakeholders)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate to all levels of the business.
  • Well-built organizational skills able to drive commitments and keep timelines.
  • Ability to multitask within a faced pace and dynamic workplace
  • Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent experience
