Our open-pit mine and concentrator in Voisey's Bay ? Vale's only fly-in/fly-out operation in Canada ? produces nickel-cobalt-copper concentrate and copper concentrate. An underground expansion will see a transition to a leading edge underground mine extending the life of the mine until 2034. Our state-of the-art facility in Long Harbour is the first nickel processing plant in the world to use hydrometallurgy technology to produce Plating RoundsTM from hard rock (sulphide) concentrate, with low carbon footprint compared to traditional smelter technology. A team of employees across the province provide support to the Newfoundland and Labrador Operations. The Opportunity We are currently seeking a MAINTENANCE PLANNER ? ELECTRICAL (UTILITIES) to join our Integrated Planning Team supporting our remote mine site in Voisey's Bay, Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation. This permanent position will be on a 2 week on/2 week off rotation working at the mine site. The successful candidate for the Maintenance Planner ? Electrical (Utilities) role will work closely with all areas of maintenance and operations to ensure work is planned, scheduled and ready for safe and accurate execution. The successful candidate will ensure adequate utilization of resources, labor and materials. In this role, you will:

  • Ensure that work plans are designed to safely operate without impact to employees, the business, the environment, the community and the regulators.
  • Establish and communicate work schedules. Verify that schedules satisfy daily and long-term requirements.
  • Assemble ready to execute job packages.
  • Identify and escalate all critical issues that threaten the successful execution of work orders to meet completion deadlines.
  • Improve the efficiency of the planning process by developing and using standard jobs as templates.
  • Assist the team in achieving the overall area targets.
  • Work collaterally and cross functionally, with colleagues, engineering, production, and services.
  • Ensures all work is following stated procedures.
  • Utilize Safe Production tools in field discussions and exhibit behaviors of Safe Production and consider how to consistently reduce risk to As Low as Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) when executing tasks.
  • Utilize Work Management systems, and escalate to the appropriate authority, if schedules cannot be achieved within quantity and/or quality parameters.
  • Complete Work Management reports to communicate status to management team.
  • Manage costs within Work Management system and escalate as required.
  • Relieve in the Maintenance Supervisor role as required.
  • Develop planning skills in the work crew for temporary replacement and succession.
  • Assist in the development and utilization of SAP.
About You Education:
  • College Diploma and Journeyperson Red Seal in Electrical and/or Instrumentation trade.
Experience:
  • 5 ? 7 work experience in Maintenance Supervision, Maintenance Planning, or a closely related discipline in a heavy industrial or mining environment.
Skills:
  • Knowledge of power generation.
  • Strong digital literacy skills. (SAP, Microsoft Office Suite, computerized work management systems)
  • Able to make decisions and prioritize work.
  • Knowledge of power generation would be an asset.
  • Able to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding Asset Management concepts and systems.
  • Knowledge of codes, ability to read prints and schematics.
