Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, Space Management North, this 2-year temporary position is responsible for providing space solutions for a wide variety of leased and owned sites for a portfolio of AHS Administrative and Community clinical departments throughout Edmonton and North Zones. Travel to sites throughout the territory is expected. The Accommodation Planner works with leadership and end users to resolve space issues and requests, which can include minor furniture purchases, area reconfigurations, or large tenant improvement projects. This position is responsible for developing Schedules of Accommodation, test-fits, space plans, furniture solutions, and costing. It is also responsible for overseeing minor projects and liaising with consultants and contractors on the application of AHS\'s design standards and guidelines. The Accommodation Planner also works closely with internal project managers, property managers, and real estate staff on evaluating spaces and making recommendations on the acquisition of new leased spaces or the altering of existing spaces.

The Accommodation Planner works independently and responsible /accountable for the following customer service skills: Providing strategic advice to a portfolio of client departments regarding their immediate and longer-term space needs ensuring alignment with AHS space standard guidelines for providing efficient and effective space utilization and space allocation. Advising and collaborating with Real Estate & Leasing regarding lease terminations, renewals, acquisitions, dispositions, and exploring opportunities for negotiating Tenant Improvement Allowances, both on initiation of new space or renewal of leases on existing space. Defining detailed project scopes of work. Generating space summaries and accommodation plans for clients based on requests for new space, adjusting current space allocations, or if clients advise that the function of their space is changing. Assessing client needs, then preparing and presenting \'test fits\'/conceptual layouts to ensure functional accommodation. Preparing planning scenarios and budget estimates. Coordinating with other AHS stakeholders to define other client/facility related requirements (e.g., Protective Services, Workplace Health & Safety, Infection Prevention & Control, Information Technology, Property Management, etc.). Assisting as required during the bid and contractor evaluation stages of project development. Other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

A bachelor\'s degree in planning or social sciences from a recognized institution or a certificate in architectural or interior design; an equivalent combination of comparable education and experience may be considered. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD would be an asset; the ability to clearly communicate in written and verbal formats; A valid driver\'s license, and the ability to travel both within the Edmonton area and to remote northern sites. Strong oral, written and listening communication skills with the ability to guide and respond to user groups, project managers, furniture and equipment planners, leasing decisions, property managers, and leadership groups with the goal of bringing these groups to consensus; experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders; ability to plan, organize and manage short and long term plans and projects and deliver customer-focused results; analytical and conceptual problem-solving ability; ability to work under pressure, manage tight schedules and achieve project deadlines - time management and organizational skills; proven strong, positive team experience; and exceptional interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications:

3-5 years\' experience in accommodation planning/space planning in a complex organization of significant size.
