Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Physiotherapist to join the Willlow Pavilion team at Vancouver General Hospital. Apply today to join our team!

This position is flexible on which 4 days the successful applicant could choose to work.

As a Physiotherapist with VCH you will:

  • Provide physical therapy assessments and treatment using current theory and evidence based practice.
  • Support the interdisciplinary program/team achieving program and resident/patient goals.
  • Consult, confer, and collaborate with Program Manager and team members as well as Practice Coordinators and the Practice Leader in the promotion of continuous quality improvement, implementation of interdisciplinary research and in coordinating activities required for progressive educational and clinical practice programs.
  • Supervise up to and including four designated non-health science professional (HSP) FTE, schedules and coordinates work assignments, establishes priorities and problem solves.
  • Be responsible for all clinical aspects of the assigned caseload as they relate to physical therapy practice, utilizing recognized physical therapy assessment and intervention approaches.
  • Work collaboratively with members of the health care team, including residents/patients and families, to set physical performance goals, evaluate response to treatment and develop long term care plans.
ABOUT WILLOW PAVILION (VGH)

Willow Pavilion is a Regional Tertiary Mental Health & Substance Use facility located on the Vancouver General Hospital Campus. It is an advanced practice environment that offers wrap-around services to clients experiencing refractory psychiatric conditions. The interdisciplinary team includes occupational, physical, vocational, and recreation therapists and assistants, pharmacists, dieticians, social workers, nurses, rehabilitation workers, doctors, peer support workers and others

Qualifications

Education & Experience
  • Degree in Physical Therapy from a recognized program.
  • Current full registration with the College of Physiotherapists of BC (CPTBC).
  • Two (2) years\xe2\x80\x99 recent, related experience in the designated service area, including one (1) year\'s related mentoring, preceptoring, coaching and/or group facilitation experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Eligible for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA).
Knowledge & Abilities
  • Knowledge of Physical Therapy theory and practice within a resident/patient and family centred model of care.
  • Knowledge of the College of Physiotherapists of British Columbia standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical practice related to treatment and care of the designated patient population.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of adult education principles, methods and tools.
  • Knowledge of hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in the designated patient population.
  • Knowledge of research methodology and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a team member, resource, motivator and facilitator.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, demonstrate techniques and facilitate learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and empower residents/patients to assume control over their health.
  • Demonstrated ability to use critical thinking in approach to teaching.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop educational programs and material.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote a creative learning environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, physicians, other health care staff and patients and their families, either one-on-one and in-groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Skill in the use of equipment and in techniques appropriate to designated clinical area.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.
  • Computer literacy with word processing, spreadsheet and database skills.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.

As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
