Job Summary
The Clinical Physiotherapist II, works in the Medicine Program to provide a Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program working with adult clients requiring pulmonary rehabilitation and prehabilitation.
Clients may require pulmonary rehabilitation for a variety of lung diseases including chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD) or pre and post operative lung transplant. Prehabilitation and risk factor modification is required for individuals identified to be at respiratory risk and aims to support individuals towards achieving optimal health outcomes.

The Clinical Physiotherapist II will be responsible for developing and implementing pulmonary rehabilitation and prehabilitation programming for clients, virtually and in-person. The Clinical Physiotherapist II will also deliver and/or provide leadership for service delivery in therapeutic exercise prescription and risk factor modification for clients requiring pulmonary prehabilitation, rehabilitation and others, as determined by the program criteria. The Clinical Physiotherapist II is responsible for consulting and advising staff and other team members, providing leadership in program development and planning, provision of patient support, teaching, advanced assessment and treatment, as well as provincial program development, leadership and consultation within the provincial rehabilitation program.

The Clinical Physiotherapist II will function as part of an Interdisciplinary Health Care Team within the Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Pre-habilitation program and work closely with other team members including referring primary care providers, and physician specialists.

In addition to clinical duties, it is expected that the Clinical Physiotherapist II will lead program development and planning, precept students, provide mentorship and enhancement opportunities for staff in the practice area, collaborate with others for program issues and participate in activities of the Division and the profession that contribute to a high quality, safe and healthy workplace and environment.

The position reports to the Division Manager of Pulmonary Services and maintains accountability to the Professional Practice Consultant for the discipline regarding professional integrity.

Occasionally uses hand tools and equipment.
Time pressures and interruptions are experienced with little control over work pace.
Higher than normal levels of attentiveness/alertness is required when performing activities for the cardiovascular client with complex medical conditions.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized School of Physiotherapy program is required.
Registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Physiotherapists (NLCP) is required.
A minimum of three years\' experience within the last five working as a Clinical Physiotherapist with experience in therapeutic exercise prescription to adult clients with chronic disease is required.
Experience working with a pulmonary rehabilitation population is an asset.
Experience providing virtual pulmonary rehabilitation and/prehabilitation is an asset.
Current and continuing certification as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) or Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) is required.
Knowledge of conditions requiring pulmonary rehabilitation and pre-habilitation.
Demonstrated effective communication, both verbally and in writing with co-workers, patients and their families in a one to one and/or group environment.
Demonstrated proven leadership skills.
Ability to direct, supervise, and mentor students and physiotherapy support workers.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as a member of an interprofessional team and be able to prioritize caseload and patient needs.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
