AtkinsRealis is seeking a Physics student. Functionally reporting to the Engineering division, the student will be assigned to support various engineering projects as well as support engineering functional and project management on as needed basis. The role will provide hands-on experience in various engineering projects, offering valuable insights into industry and practical application of engineering principles.
How will you contribute to the team?
Assist engineers, discipline leads, and the Core Physics Team with daily engineering tasks, including preparing inputs for and running reactor physics codes, and supporting analyses for reactor design, operation, and safety.
Contribute to the development and assembly of engineering, physics, and math deliverables for nuclear and conventional systems. Support the adaptation or modification of computer codes for specialized applications.
Interface with multidisciplinary teams and project sectors to coordinate assigned tasks. Facilitate document reviews, RFI responses, and attend technical and coordination meetings.
Assist with departmental administrative tasks and promote a collaborative, team-oriented work environment.
The Ideal Candidate:
Strong foundation in physics and mathematics; desirable knowledge in reactor, nuclear, or particle physics. Familiarity with analytical/design tools such as MATLAB, ETAP, and MathCAD.
Skilled in coding (e.g., C++, Python, FORTRAN); experience with Linux operating systems is an asset.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); prior experience in the nuclear industry is advantageous.
Ability to apply theoretical principles to develop practical engineering solutions.
Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent planning, multitasking, and coordination skills. Adaptable and thrives in dynamic, team-oriented environments.
Currently enrolled in Physics/Math/ Engineering Program with an accredited Canadian University.
Ability to obtain Security Clearance is mandatory.
