Responsibilities
Assist pharmacists with medication preparation, including medication intake and verification processes. Maintain accurate inventory levels by organizing stock, checking expiration dates, and restocking shelves efficiently. Support the preparation of IV infusions and aseptic techniques to ensure safe medication compounding. Provide excellent patient service by answering questions, processing prescriptions, and guiding patients through medication usage. Ensure compliance with medical terminology standards and hospital protocols during medication dispensing and documentation. Help with medication administration tasks under supervision, ensuring proper labeling and storage. Participate in critical care and acute care environments by supporting the pharmacy team with specialized medication needs.
Skills
Strong understanding of medical terminology and pharmacy operations within hospital or LTC settings. Experience with LTC pharmacy, critical care, or acute care environments is highly desirable. Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to patient care. Knowledge of aseptic techniques, IV infusion preparation, and medication intake procedures. Previous pharmacy technician experience is preferred, including familiarity with medication administration processes. Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced hospital or healthcare environments while maintaining accuracy. Effective communication skills to collaborate with healthcare professionals and assist patients confidently.
