Brady's Drug Store is looking to hire a Pharmacy Assistant to perform duties required for the efficient running of the pharmacy. The pharmacy assistant's responsibilities include creating and maintaining patient files, interact with customers in a friendly and helpful manner, restock pharmaceutical supplies, and operating the cash register. You should also be able to ask patients basic questions and direct patients' medication-related questions to the pharmacist. You will work under the direction of the pharmacist and/or lead pharmacy technician.
To be successful as a Pharmacy Assistant at Brady's Drug Store, you should have an interest in patient-centred healthcare, be friendly and approachable, detail-oriented and accurate, and able to multi-task and work effectively as a collaborative pharmacy team member.
Pharmacy Assistant Responsibilities:
Processing sales transactions for medications and other pharmaceutical supplies, including working with money.
Answering questions and directing all questions relating to prescriptions, health matters, or medications to the pharmacist.
Answering all incoming telephone calls in a professional manner.
Reading a prescription or prescription label and selecting and accurately counting medications for the pharmacist to check.
Accurately typing and printing out prescription labels.
Maintaining patient records both on paper and electronically.
Running a machine capable of processing and packaging prescriptions.
Taking inventory of all medication and pharmaceutical supplies.
Receiving and restocking shelves with medications and other pharmaceutical supplies.
Attending to emails and fax messages and online booking systems.
Ensuring that work areas are organized and clean.
Generating and printing reports.
Other duties as assigned from time to time.
Pharmacy Assistant Skills and Requirements:
College diploma preferred. Will consider High School diploma or GED.
One year+ experience assisting in a pharmacy.
Works well with people and has a friendly demeanor.
Exceptional customer service skills.
The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Detail-oriented and accurate.
Excellent communication skills.
Flexible and adaptable to the changing priorities and tasks of the day and new procedures. A strong multi-tasker.
Confident in working with new technologies and software systems. Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
Trustworthy.
Able to stand for 9 hours at a time.
An interest in healthcare and learning medical technology and terminology.
Must be willing to work in multiple store locations on a weekly basis
(Belle River and Essex, mostly).
Hours are generally 9-6 pm Monday to Friday, with commitment to working some weekends each month (hours 9-3 pm).
Solid math skills and comfort in working with money.
Experience working with Kroll pharmacy database is a plus.
Ability to speak other languages is a plus.
