We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support pharmacy operations by assisting with medication preparation, patient service, and administrative tasks. The Pharmacy Assistant will play a vital role in ensuring accurate medication dispensing and maintaining high standards of patient safety and care.
Duties
Assist licensed pharmacists with medication preparation, including IV infusion and aseptic techniques
Manage medication intake and ensure proper documentation for patient records
Support patient service activities such as answering queries and providing medication information
Prepare and package medications accurately according to medical terminology and prescription details
Maintain inventory levels, restock supplies, and ensure proper storage of medications
Support hospital or LTC pharmacy operations by adhering to safety protocols and infection control procedures
Assist with medication administration processes under supervision, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards
Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of pharmacy equipment to uphold aseptic technique standards
Skills
Experience or knowledge in LTC pharmacy, critical care, or hospital environments preferred
Strong understanding of medical terminology, medication administration, and aseptic techniques
Prior pharmacy technician experience is highly desirable
Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to patient care
Ability to handle intake procedures efficiently and accurately
Familiarity with IV infusion procedures and acute care protocols is a plus
Knowledge of hospital or healthcare facility operations enhances performance in this role
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure medication accuracy and safety
