We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to join our team. As a vital member of our pharmacy staff, you will assist the pharmacist in providing excellent patient care, ensuring the efficient operation of the pharmacy, and maintaining high standards of customer service. We are looking for an assistant with an interest in pharmaceutical compounding as this is a large portion of the job.
Key Responsibilities:
-Compound cream, liquid and capsule formulations
- Assist the pharmacist in prescription preparation, including measuring, mixing, and labeling medications.
- Maintain and organize pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking medications and supplies.
- Greet and assist customers at the prescription drop-off and pick-up counter with a friendly and professional demeanour.
- Answer phone calls, handle customer inquiries, and provide information on prescription status and over-the-counter products.
- Verify patient information and insurance details for accurate billing and record-keeping.
- Collaborate with the pharmacist to ensure prescriptions are filled accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy workspace, adhering to safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Assist in processing and adjudicating insurance claims and third-party billing.
- Help promote and maintain a positive working environment, fostering teamwork and collaboration among pharmacy staff.
Qualifications:
-Prior compounding experience is an asset (but can be learned on the job)
- Pharmacy Assistant certification is an asset.
- Prior experience in a pharmacy setting is preferred.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with Kroll pharmacy software is an asset.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under pressure.
