Reporting to the Ag Division Manager, responsibilities for the position include the following:
Operational Management:
Responsible for all aspects of operations for Petroleum and equipment, including helping develop and then executing the operational plan, meeting operational efficiencies and targets, consistently implementing procedures/best practices, policies, and applying the CBA, ordering, receiving, processing claims, payables, expenses, delivery, POS requirements, managing inventory, minimizing costs and maximizing profitability. Establishes and fosters relationships with existing customers and seeks to create new relationships in order to generate new business. Ensures standards are met and exceeded - ie. image, merchandising, asset protection, preventative maintenance and general upkeep of equipment etc. Works collaboratively with the Petroleum & Ag Equipment Sales Rep and Ag site management to ensure programs are implemented as outlined. Leads procurement process for petroleum products and Ag equipment. Responsible for inventory management, inventory turns, audit requirements, logistics for all ag equipment. Schedules team members to address the needs of the business, and exceptions are managed daily, along with time off requests handled in a timely fashion.
Talent Management & Team Leadership:
Leads their team within the parameters of the CBA and Saskatoon Co-op polices and guidelines. Practices full cycle talent management - talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management including communicating clear performance expectations, coaching and mentoring, development planning, and driving employee engagement and implementing strategies to promote a positive employee work experience. Supports and coaches the Ag Equipment Sales Manager to apply talent management practices with their respective team members. Ensures proper training is provided using the appropriate resources.
Financial Management:
Leads and develops department budget. Works with the Ag Division Manager to review financial reporting and provides variance explanations within the timelines provided and implement adjustments to obtain profitability. Oversees all department audits, including coordination with other Saskatoon Ag Division Management to ensure regular inventory counts and schedules. Approves pricing of all new products. Tracks and monitors sales, volumes, margins against established targets.
Marketing:
In support of the department marketing plan and in collaboration with the Senior Manager, Ag, provides input into the department's marketing plan, executes store level and local marketing plan as directed by the Ag Division Manager, ensuring point of sale and in-store signage and promotions are aligned with programs and organizational/divisional marketing campaigns, and effectively displayed. Inform all team members of the campaign and required behaviours to align with the desired outcomes.
Analytics:
Track and compile relevant data to measure targets and analyze results, such as sales and employee sales hours, shrink, inventory, margin, productivity, specific product performance. Utilize analytics tools and other tracking methods where available. Work with Team Leader to gather insights and implement corrective actions.
Safety (and Environmental) Stewardship:
Ensures compliance with Saskatoon Co-op's Safety Policies and government regulations (OHS committee meetings, fire drills, operator's certification). Reports incidents, workplace accidents and near misses as required. Aids in investigations in asset protection or other related matters. Implements corrective action to prevent future safety events. Ensures a safe environment for employees and customers.
Qualifications:
Candidates will have their Grade 12 or equivalent with a preference for post-secondary education (Business Diploma or Degree)
Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible industry experience or equivalent
