The Purpose of the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced People and Culture Generalist to fill a dynamic role at Social Nature. This role will be integral in leading the people programs of the business, supporting our operations and administration, and building a high-performance culture. Support the Full Employee Life Cycle. Whether onboarding a new employee or leading growth and development planning for our team, this role takes ownership to ensure employees are supported and engaged at Social Nature. This role will take the reins in all things related to getting new team members setup and supporting them to thrive in their role. As the primary contact for both managers and team members for HR related questions, you are always available to have conversations promoting clarity for our team! Owning Culture Programs. At Social Nature, our leadership principles guide us in how we work together to build a business and a culture that is not only high performing but that we can all be proud of. This role manages various people and culture related programs including event management, acting as chair of our Social Committee, internal communications, and engagement programs. Operations and Administration. With a lean operations team at Social Nature, we all roll up our sleeves to make it happen when it comes to administrative and operational functions of the business. This role takes pride in creating operational efficiencies leading the administrative functions of the business. Whether it\'s creating a welcoming and supportive physical and virtual environment, managing our HRIS, ATS, and company tech stack, or taking note/summarizing actions from weekly team meetings, you understand every task serves a purpose in building our business and enabling Social Nature to scale.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Manage HR administration including our HRIS, benefits administration, contracting, policies, and practices.
  • Manage employee programs to support a high-performance team including growth & development, 360 feedback, performance, recognition, wellness, and social impact
  • Offer assistance and direction to managers and employees regarding HR-related questions, issues and concerns.
  • Provide direct support to the CEO including internal team communications, meeting management (agendas, note taking, action tracking), and change management.
  • Support internal communications including our monthly Town Hall, management meetings, written team updates, and maintaining our employee handbook.
  • Support the development of our employer brand including social posts, updates to our website, and other assets to promote the culture of Social Nature
  • Manage our physical and virtual space by acting as the primary point of contact, ordering office supplies, and managing issues
  • Support recruitment efforts including creation of job profiles, ATS management, and conducting phone screens
  • Systems administration (managing software access, budgets etc)
  • Chair our social committee and contribute to various team and culture building initiatives
  • Lead the planning of company wide events including our annual team retreat
  • Work in a hybrid capacity both at our Yaletown office and remotely to best support the Social Nature team

What You Will Need To Succeed In This Role

  • 4-6 years in an HR Generalist role or similar; previous experience working in a start-up/high-growth environment is an asset.
  • Exceptional communication skills for internal and external HR communications
  • Experience leading HR administration and employee engagement programs
  • Experience planning events (logistics, budgets, timelines, etc.)
  • Resourceful with strong problem solving skills to deal with ambiguous situations in a dynamic fast-paced environment
  • Recognized as someone that can quickly synthesize information
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including equal employment opportunities, labour laws across multiple geographies and other applicable regulations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Well versed with core tools including GSuite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets & Slides), Slack, and HRIS (Humi)
  • Ability to exercise diplomacy and discretion and to handle highly confidential information appropriately
