Summary:
Being a committed member of the FMGOC team and reporting to Manager, Total Rewards and HRIS, Pension and Benefits Coordinator is responsible for the overall administration of the company's group benefits and pension programs. The incumbent delivers accurate and timely benefits and pension processing to employees and works as a liaison between the plan members, company, and insurance carriers. Pension and Benefits Coordinator provides exemplary customer service and effectively collaborates with various business units, i.e., Payroll, Operations, and Human Resources team as well as external stakeholders to support the overall Human Capital Management (HCM) Strategy.

Key Focus:

  • Coordinate and administer the FMGOC's group benefits plan, which includes Life, Dependent Life, Optional Life and AD&D, Health, Dental, Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP), and Long-Term Disability (LTD) benefits.
  • Coordinate and administer Group Registered Pension Plan (RPP), Registered Retirement Savings Plan (GRRSP), and Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA) program.
  • Provide enrollment, renewal, and delivery of group benefits and pension programs.
  • Advise employees of changes and developments related to benefits and pension plans including eligibility, coverage, and provisions.
  • Create benefits and pension visual aids and guides to facilitate administration in Dayforce.
  • Coordinate accurate and timely delivery of employee and employer contributions to carriers, plan administrators, or other appropriate service providers.
  • Complete records, reports, and other documentation required by legislation and provider rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Code bills and reconcile Dayforce benefits and pension reports to insurance carriers' reports and bills to ensure overall accuracy and Company's compliance with plan requirements.
  • Reconcile various reports from Dayforce as well as ad hoc reports to bills, exports, etc. from insurance companies, Unions, and other internal and external parties.
  • Research and compare incentive compensation plans offered by comparable companies. Assess market plans and make recommendations for required improvements to keep the FMGOC's benefits plans effective and competitive.
  • Facilitate employee surveys, census, and other research required to collect accurate quotes from benefit providers.
  • Support Manager, Total Rewards and HRIS in identifying and selecting carriers and plans based on quotes, available benefits plans on the market, and prior experience.
  • Maintain knowledge of economic conditions, labour market, and other factors related to ensuring that Company provides competitive benefits and pension plans.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, developments, and best practices in payroll and benefits administration.
  • Compile key HR metrics from a variety of sources, including Ceridian Dayforce, other human resource information systems (HRIS) and payroll outputs, benefits enrollment records, management and employee surveys, exit interviews, personnel records, labour statistics, and competitors' practices.
  • Analyze data and provide recommendations to management regarding trends and patterns with attention on benefits and pension enrollment and focus on overall competitiveness and compliance.
  • Prepare reports of various frequencies and communicate findings to management.
  • Provide all relevant Dayforce support and troubleshooting for employees, such create and reset user access, answer new hire enrollment questions (benefits/pension, profile set up, etc)
  • Backfill vacations and provide coverage across Total Rewards team where required, which includes providing support for LOA administration, activation of user access in INX Learning Management System, etc.
  • Shift schedule: Monday to Friday; 8 hours per day,.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) is an asset.
  • Advanced MS Windows and MS Office user (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint). Experience with Ceridian Dayforce, Benefits module or other relevant HRIS applications is required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years in benefits administration role in a large company with focus on HRIS and reporting.
  • Working proficiency in Ceridian Dayforce or other HRIS applications.
  • Strong knowledge of Human Resources functions such as payroll, benefits, pensions, and HRIS, including member enrollment and processing.
  • Good analytical, problem solving, critical thinking, and constructive mindset.
  • A valid Class 5 License (or equivalent) is required, along with a satisfactory 3-year Drivers Abstract.
  • Use of telecommunications equipment, mobile phone, computer and iPad
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
This is a full time local position located in Fort McMurray, AB.
