We currently have a 'Payroll & Benefits Administrator' permanent opportunity located at our main office at 804 - 7015 Macleod Trail S.W. What is so exciting about this position is that one gets to know and support the many employees of Silvera for Senior along with building internal relationships with your colleagues across the communities. FUNCTION: Reporting to the Payroll and Benefits Coordinator, the individual is response for payroll processing, reports and benefits reconciliation with pension plans administration. Ensure payroll is processed accurately and timely.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and process changes for bi-weekly payroll including pay step increases, salary changes, benefits, enrollment, new hires, terminations, employee data, and other changes into the Payworks payroll system.
  • Process employee terminations, including confirming accuracy of dates and reason for termination, entering the termination into the payroll system, processing final pay and collecting all outstanding payments on final pay. Issue Record of Employment (ROE) via Payworks payroll system and submitted to Service Canada.
  • Prepares payroll reports for Finance department for journal entry.
  • Balance deductions with remittance and prepares payments for all deductions not remitted by Payworks (e.g.. LAPP, Manulife and garnishment etc.).
  • Administer the company's group benefits and pension plans.
  • Reconcile group benefits premium and employees account receivable GL account on a monthly basis.
  • Reconcile the earnings, benefits and deductions for year end documents such as T4's slips and WCB.
  • Calculate pension adjustment for LAPP at year end.
  • Contact and collect outstanding group benefits premium from employees on unpaid leave.
  • Prepares T4s and year-end reporting (e.g.. WCB annual return, PIER report and LAPP report).
  • Respond to all payroll related inquiries from employees, supervisors or managers including third parties such as the government and legal entities in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Minimum two to three years of full cycle payroll experience including year-end processes.
  • Work towards or have completed the Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with solid analysis, judgment and recommendation skills.
  • Strong communication skills in both verbal and written form along with time management and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of Payworks would be a strong asset along with payroll accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel using V Lookups and pivot tables along with MS Word.
  • Knowledge of the Alberta Employment Standards and payroll compliance.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Willing to work office based with a shared workspace
  • Flexible attitude who can respond to a variety of changing duties and work routines
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines with occasional after-work hours or weekends to meet the payroll processing timelines.
  • Work schedule is Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 4:00PM 937.5 per week)
