Salary Details:
Remuneration for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be based on the income scale of a competitive and highly successful academic alternate funding plan.
Job Duties:

  • This is a full time (1.0 FTE) tenure track (contingent) position, composed of approximately 60% time for clinical service and 40% time for scholarly pursuits divided among research (i.e. fundamental discovery research through clinical research, knowledge translation, or quality improvement), teaching, and administrative duties (negotiable).
  • This role would provide support to existing inpatient and outpatient services with a focus on a particular clinical niche that aligns with the applicant's scholarly interests.
  • The division values its collegial dedicated team at the Pediatric Diabetes Education Center as well as its very experienced Endocrinology nursing staff. In addition to clinical care, the division participates actively in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and has a fully accredited Pediatric Endocrinology subspecialty-training program through the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Academic members of the Department of Pediatrics are eligible to become members of the Women and Children's Health Research Institute (WCHRI) which supports research excellence dedicated to improving the health of children and women. WCHRI is a partnership between the University of Alberta and Alberta Health Services, with core funding support from the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation and the Alberta Women's Health Foundation. WCHRI is the only research institute in Canada and one of the few in the world to focus on women's, children's and perinatal health. Thanks to our funders' generosity, WCHRI is able to provide a broad range of support to research programs, including access to funding opportunities and research support services (e.g. biostatistics, qualitative design, KT, data management, clinical trials support, grant application development). WCHRI also invests in the next generation of researchers through graduate and summer studentships, postdoctoral fellowships and funding for trainee travel/presentation of research outcomes.
Required Qualifications:
  • MD degree (or equivalent)
  • Completed training in Pediatrics and subspecialty training in Pediatric Endocrinology.
  • Additional training and/or experience demonstrating the potential to contribute to the academic mandate of the division and the department, as evidenced, for example, by advanced clinical training in pediatric endocrinology, or graduate training, or a history of success with scholarly pursuits, i.e. course creation, a record of publication in education or research and/or a history of independent funding.
  • Must be certified or eligible to become a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. See the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada for more information on various routes of credentialing (https://www.royalcollege.ca/en/eligibility-and-exams/exam-eligibility)
  • Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).
  • Please apply with your CV and a Letter of Application.
