Job Overview
First Canadian Health Management Corporation (FCH) has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and committed Payroll Processor & Administrator. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with an Indigenous owned and operated company. They will have a heavy attention to detail towards accurate and timely data entry, and will place strong value on honesty and integrity in their work. The ideal candidate will also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and possess a strong sense of urgency in processing payroll and answering questions from employees about their pay.

The Payroll Processor & Administrator will be processing the full year's payroll cycle (including support in year-end processes and filing) and performing administrative tasks. This role requires accurate and timely data entry in compliance with company policies and Employment Standards. The Payroll Processor & Administrator will also work closely with Human Resources, and support HR Administrative tasks as needed. The ideal candidate for this role will live in Winnipeg and have experience with Payroll Administration in Manitoba and Ontario.

Key Responsibilities

• Processing the full year's cycle of bi-weekly payrolls for approximately 200 salary and hourly employees in multiple provinces (experience in Ontario and Manitoba is considered an asset).
• Support all steps required in Year-End payroll processing, including but not limited to PIER Review, taxable benefits adjustments, T4 adjustments and approval, pension filing
• Participation in all stages of an employee's time with the company in relation to payroll, from onboarding new hires and activating them in the payroll system to issuing ROEs
• Responsible for scheduling and running payrolls by following standard operating procedures.
• Using multiple payroll platforms to process bi-weekly payrolls for different companies in Winnipeg and Toronto (experience with Ceridian, ADP, Ibex, and PayWorks are considered assets).
• Accurate and timely data entry in the processing of payroll.
• Calculation of manual payroll adjustments, including but not limited to retro pay, prorated payments, benefits and pension contributions
• Maintaining payroll related employee records based on real-time requests
• Keeping accurate notes and maintaining a bi-weekly backup for items processed in any given payroll.
• Critical thinking skills and a willingness to double check your own work are necessary for this position.
• Provide feedback and suggestions on processes and procedures to enhance efficiency.
• Support Human Resources in administrative tasks on an as needed basis. Past experience in HR support is a strong asset
• Maintaining a very strong attention to detail in all tasks
• Working independently and as a member of a team
• Performing tasks efficiently and possessing a strong work ethic are required for this position
• Staying informed about changes in payroll regulations and best practices to ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a payroll administration support role.
• Strong computer skills with experience in accurate and timely data entry
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
• Ability to work within a team and independently
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Working knowledge of Ceridian, ADP, Ibex, and PayWorks is considered an asset
• Ability to analyze and interpret data independently
• Willingness to ask questions and seek assistance when needed
• Critical thinking and a "no mistakes" mindset in processing payroll are integral to this position
• Experience with payroll administration of Protected Leaves as per provincial ESA and/or company policies is considered a strong asset.
• Experience with supporting Pension and Group Benefits Administration is considered a strong asset.

Pay: $35,000.00-$40,000.00 per year
