Prepare, process, and balance a bi-weekly payroll cycle to include verifying, compiling, reconciling and processing earnings, vacation/sick/leave time, insurance, taxable benefits, employees expenses, garnishments and other deductions, remittances and payments, while ensuring accuracy and compliance with HR policies and applicable standards
Organize and maintain system of records for current employees, new hires, transfers, and terminations.
Review and reconcile time entries and attendance reports to ensure completeness and accuracy of the hours worked, proper categorization and cost allocation.
Complete general ledger reconciliations and process payroll related journal entries.
Complete reports and documents as required by CRA, Service Canada, and other agencies.
Reconcile and submit payments for source deductions to the CRA.
Process termination pay, Prepare and submit ROEs as required by CRA, Service Canada, and other agencies.
Execute general wage/salary amendments and payments. Collaborate with employees in processing over and underpayments.
Process benefit and RRSP enrolments, changes, and terminations in accordance with applicable contracts.
Reconcile benefit premiums for payment to carriers.
Generate payroll reports as required by key stakeholders.
Year-end reconciliations, processing, and reporting, including T4s and WCB filing.
Provide information to WCB, financial or other auditors as required.
Represent the company in a professional and ethical manner and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with internal departments while maintaining confidentiality.
Assist with AP processes.
Assist with accounting projects as required.
Miscellaneous accounting and administrative support as needed.
About You
Post-secondary education in accounting
National Payroll Institute certification/Payroll designation
3+ years of payroll and benefits administration experience
Working knowledge of Employment Standards, CRA guidelines and legislation
Hands-on experience in operating spreadsheets, payroll, and accounting software
Proficiency in MS Office
Professional with excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to respond appropriately in pressure situations with a calm and steady demeanor.
Must possess a high level of moral judgment for handling confidential information and monetary transactions.
Highly organized with significant attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
Excellent time management and multitasking skills with the ability to consistently meet tight deadlines.
Critical thinking, decision making and problem-solving skills.
