Job Overview
Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources, the successful candidate will be accountable for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, administration of benefit plans, and maintaining compliance with relevant legislation.
Position Responsibilities
Calculate and process bi-weekly payroll, prepare journal entries and reconcile payroll
Support year end processes and prepare and submit Records of Employment
Liaise with government agencies and ensure all statutory tax and compliance requirements are met, which include preparing payroll reports for WCB/Labour standards inquiries, remittances, etc.
Complete taxable benefit assessments and payments
Reconcile tax remittances on a regular basis
Administer the benefits and savings plans and coordinate and support the annual benefit enrolment process
Build and cultivate relationships and coordinate with third party vendors, insurance providers and benefits consultant
Monitor and respond to payroll and benefit inquiries and provide support for claims, eligibility and coverage
Maintain accurate records and ensure timely follow-up on benefit related documentation
Prepare, reconcile and upload savings plan remittance file
Reconcile benefits invoices
Onboard new hires in payroll and benefits, including conducting new hire orientation
Review survey data, analyze market competitiveness, and make recommendations of changes to benefits plans
Identify process improvement initiatives and works with HRIS to develop, document and implement new payroll and benefits processes
Manage the payroll, benefits, workforce management, and onboarding modules in Dayforce and maintain employee records in the system
Input into the payroll changes tracking document and create employee change documentation
File supporting documentation in employee files and maintain and update employee files
Create and maintain Human Resources information on the company SharePoint site
Skills and Qualifications
Post-secondary degree in business, related field, or equivalent preferred
Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification preferred
Minimum 5 years payroll and benefits experience
Experience with Dayforce preferred, but not required
Experience in the energy sector an asset, but not required
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and collaborative team player
Strong analytical, technical, and organizational skills with the ability to work under tight deadlines
Strong attention to detail
Strong internal customer focus
Strong interpersonal and communications skills
Ability to demonstrate confidentiality and discretion at all times
Advanced expertise in Excel and proficient in PowerPoint, Word and SharePoint
Kingston Midstream is committed to providing a flexible work practice to allow employees to work both from the office and from a remote location. This position would work remotely Mondays and Fridays and in the office Tuesday to Thursday.
