Summary of This Role

Processes high-volume payroll for corporate location and multiple subsidiaries on a biweekly basis. Maintains, processes, and verifies employee time and attendance detail, manually processes miscellaneous payroll adjusting entries, processes garnishment, child support, and tax levy payments. The Payroll Administrator will provide accurate processing of payroll and assist in the day-to-day administration and operation of the payroll function to enhance the effectiveness of the HR department and Global Payments Canada as a whole.

What you will do:

  • Full maintenance of the salaried and hourly employees on the Workday payroll system
  • Prepare all payroll data accurately and in a timely manner and ensure all forms are authorized
  • Bi-weekly compilation and processing of payroll data i.e. new hires, salary changes, terminations, taxes, taxable benefits, direct deposit, RRSP and DPSP deductions, maternity leave top up, etc.
  • Process "deposit reject" and garnishment payments
  • Review the timesheet uploads information for accuracy
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment with matters of significance including governmental reporting
  • Balance and reconcile bi-weekly pension reports
  • Administration of STD payments and reconciliation
  • Prepare documentation for internal and external auditors
  • Perform payroll duties as they relate to company policies or general business operations of the company
  • Answer employees' payroll related questions
  • Other duties as assigned
What we are looking for:
  • 1-2 years experience with a computerized HRIS/Payroll system, preferably Workday
  • Certification with the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) or a combination of relevant and equivalent education and experience
  • College diploma in Accounting and Payroll or related discipline an asset
  • Proficient in the knowledge and use of computer applications, including Workday software and its related report writing functions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of tax laws including provincial regulations relating to payroll and benefits
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented and accurate with respect to data are critical
  • Strong team player who is proactive and results oriented
  • Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Professional, enthusiastic and demonstrates a positive attitude
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional organization/time management skills
  • Superior customer service skills and proven customer service experience
  • Fluency in French an asset
