The Payroll Administrator is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely posting and payment of semi-monthly payroll functions. The incumbent works with many departments, clients, and managers; therefore, requires strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to develop relationships/be a team player. The Payroll Administrator is responsible for ensuring all work is done in accordance with Hy-Tech procedure and following safe work practices. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES PAYROLL PREPARATION AND ADMINISTRATION
  • Carries out the preparation and administration of payroll for all employees, ensuring that all salaries and wages are paid accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Ensures employee recoverables and other authorized deductions are processed accurately.
  • Balances government payroll tax remittance and submits for payment every pay period.
  • Reconciles to accounting software and payroll systems registers.
  • Prepares journal entries and forms, such as records of employment, income tax forms, and remittances.
  • Carries out the administration of employee programs, such as group benefit plans and retirement savings.
  • Tracks vacation and other leaves as per policy. Alerts managers of usage trends and inconsistencies with policy.
  • Maintains spreadsheets for each province where business is transacted, for Worker\xe2\x80\x99s Compensation. Reconciles WCB charges to accounting software and payroll systems and prepares payments for each Province. Performs year-end balancing of WCB amounts.
  • Invoices each international country on a monthly basis for Payroll expenses.
  • Maintains loan balance information for employees without approved T-1213s on file.
  • Processes payroll for US employees working in the US, prepares and submits statutory deductions for US payroll, and prepares and submits required information for W-2 processing.
THE SETTING This position is based out of global headquarters in Smithers, BC. Office work environment with some travel required. This is an in-person position so the successful applicant would be required to report to the Smithers office location for work. THE SCHEDULE
  • Standard working hours are Monday to Friday 8:00am \xe2\x80\x93 5:00pm Monday-Friday, corresponding with hours of work required in the branch location.
  • There will also be some requirement to be available after hours and on weekend during busy times.

WHAT YOU NEED Education & Training
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED.
  • 2-5 years of Payroll experience. Previous experience in a diverse and dynamic payroll environment is an asset.
  • Payroll Certification is considered an asset.
  • Post-Secondary courses in Bookkeeping or Accounting are considered an asset.
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, databases, spreadsheets, email and the internet.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a clear Criminal Record Check.
  • Must possess a valid Driver\xe2\x80\x99s Licence and must provide a current Driver\xe2\x80\x99s Abstract on an annual basis.
