Job Description


Under the direction of the Secretary Treasurer this position provides efficient, effective and timely payroll administration for all divisional staff including (but not limited to): Board Office Staff, Teachers, Term Teachers Substitutes, School Support Staff, Trustees and Bus Drivers. The successful candidate must ensure they work in a confidential, professional, and competent manner while working under strict deadlines. Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent. - Certificate in Payroll Management would be an asset. - Computerized accounting and payroll experience, minimum 3 years. - Strong technical, analytical and problem solving skills. - Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Electronic database/software competency including spreadsheets. - Demonstrated ability to work with confidential information. - Ability to meet constant crucial deadlines. - Ability to manage frequent interruptions and conflicting demands. - Intense concentration required. Responsibilities: - Ensure that all staff salaries and wages are properly paid on a regular schedule in accordance with collective agreements and employment contracts. - Ensure that accurate payroll records are maintained in accordance with applicable federal and provincial regulations and division policies and procedures. - Obtain time and absence reports and ensure accuracy of data entered either manually or electronically. - Ensure that proper records of vacation, personal leave and sick time entitlements and usage by staff are maintained. - Ensure payroll information is provided and filed in individual employee files. - Reconcile T4 and T4A to payroll registers and to source deduction/benefit premium remittances. - Calculate and invoice employees for benefit premiums when on leaves of absence. - Calculate and invoice outside organizations (Manitoba Education, Unions, etc) for payroll costs for release time. - Reconcile employee wage reimbursements from Workers Compensation and adjust employee sick leave accrual balance. - Process garnishment order deductions and submit for remittance. - Process employee computer purchase plan deductions. - Prepare the Employment Insurance (EI) Premium Reduction Program application for reduced employer premium rates. - Prepare and reconcile TRAF and MSBA pension plan reports. - Interpret collective agreements, labour laws and division policies and procedures. - Respond to questions regarding pay calculations and deductions. - Respond to Workers Compensation claims. - Issue Records of Employment. - Prepare reports for payroll and accounting information as required (Statistics Canada, substitute verifications, days taught. etc. - Prepare, maintain, and distribute seniority lists. - Provide software support to school staff for employee time and absence reporting. - Compose and type miscellaneous letters and memos. - Other duties relevant to the position shall be assigned as required. Salary for this position will be based on qualifications and experience. Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check will be required. Job Type: Full-time Salary: $45,000.00-$65,000.00 per year Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
