The Conlon Eye Institute (www.conloneyeinstitute.com) is a leading-edge medical and surgical ophthalmological center, renowned for our expertise in refractive laser surgery, including LASIK, cataract surgery, oculoplastics, and a broad range of general ophthalmology services. Our facility spans over 6,000 square feet in the historic Medical Arts Building, featuring two fully-equipped operating theatres certified by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan.

Position Overview



We are currently seeking a

Patient Educator & Scheduler

to join our dynamic and fast-paced team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys patient interaction and is passionate about delivering outstanding care. The successful candidate will meet with patients undergoing oculoplastic and refractive procedures, provide education and guidance, and support them throughout the scheduling and surgical preparation process.

Key Responsibilities



Patient Scheduling:

Managing and coordinating patient appointments, including scheduling, rescheduling, and managing surgical waitlists

Patient Education:

Explaining procedures, treatments, and post-operative care to patients in a clear, empathetic manner

Patient Communication:

Answering inquiries, addressing concerns, and ensuring patients feel well-informed and supported

Pre- and Post-operative Care:

Preparing patients for surgery, delivering pre-operative instructions, and coordinating follow-up appointments

Medical Record Management:

Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient information in the EMR (Accuro)

Compliance and Safety:

Ensuring adherence to clinic protocols, privacy regulations, and safety guidelines

Team Collaboration:

Working closely with physicians, technicians, and administrative staff to ensure a seamless patient journey from consultation to post-op care

Required Skills



Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

Ability to communicate clearly with patients, physicians, and staff

Organizational Skills:

Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain organized records

Problem-solving Skills:

Proactive in addressing patient concerns and finding solutions with compassion and efficiency

Adaptability:

Comfortable with shifting priorities and able to thrive in a high-paced clinical environment

Knowledge of Medical Terminology:

Familiarity with ophthalmology-specific language and procedures is an asset

Computer Skills:

Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR); experience with Accuro or similar scheduling software is an advantage
