Specialized Seniors Care is an acute medicine unit. This 34 bed unit cares for patients over 65 years of age with presence of geriatric syndrome and acute illness. Our aim is to enhance or maintain the health status and quality of life of older adults who have complex medical issues. The team consists of physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, registered practical nurses, patient care assistants, behavioural support therapist, dietitians, pharmacists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, recreation therapists, elder life specialist, geriatrician, geriatric phycologist, a discharge planner, social worker, a respiratory therapist, a speech language pathologist, unit clerks, chaplain and volunteers. Each member has a specific role to play to ensure seamless integration of care and together, they strive to provide exceptional care to each patient and family. As a Patient Care Assistant you are a professional caregiver who is responsible and accountable for providing quality patient care within a delivery model in accordance with the philosophy, policies and standards of care of the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH), and all relevant legislation.
Education:
Completed a recognized program for personal support worker Current Basic Rescuer Certificate in Basic Cardiac Life support Member of the Ontario Personal Support Worker Association (OPSWA) and/or Personal Support Network of Ontario (PSNO) an asset
Experience:
Previous patient care experience in health care environment or health related community work, preferred
