Elmhirst's Resort is an all season, cottage resort and conference/wedding facility located on Rice Lake, (approximately 25 minutes from Peterborough). We have a farm on site where we raise our own, ducks, beef, and turkeys for use in our food service operations. Elmhirst's Resort is a firm believer in sustainability and practicing responsible stewardship of the land and water that is so important to our business and community.
Pastry Chef Responsibilities:
- Preparing desserts and baked goods for restaurant and banquet operations
- Assisting the head chef and Food & Beverage Director with menu planning with regards to desserts, breads and other baking
- Ensuring the kitchen is equipped with fresh baked breads as needed
- Contributing to the general cleanliness and orderliness of the kitchen
- Assisting with inventory & ordering
- Development and packaging of farm store products as needed
- Procurement of specialty items as needed
- Ensure that all products and menu items come out in a high quality and timely fashion
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
- Teaching other team members pastry skills
- Other tasks as assigned
Requirements:
- Current food handler's certification
- Minimum 2 years baking experience in any environment
- Able to work standing for 8 hours
- Able to lift approx. 50 lbs
- Formal baking education an asset but not required
