Part-time teaching contract (5 hrs/week), 2 sections available

What you will do:





University of Guelph-Humber invites talented, committed individuals interested in teaching on a part-time basis to take the first step in joining our dynamic faculty team.



The incumbent will be responsible for teaching a course called MDST*3210 - Video Production I. Candidates will be responsible for creating an effective adult learning environment, facilitating learning and classroom (both on campus and online) interaction, assessing student progress and providing student feedback.


Course Description:





This course introduces students to the key terms, concepts and techniques required to plan, shoot and produce video for a range of media purposes including video journalism, marketing, social media and corporate communications. Students plan, shoot, edit and produce video using cameras, lights and accessories; demonstrate basic storytelling skills; edit visuals and sound using appropriate software; constructively critique and analyze their own work and that of peers, and incorporate feedback into final productions.

What you bring to the role:





Education



The successful candidate will hold at least a Bachelor's degree (Master's is preferred) in or closely related to Media Production, Communications or Digital Communications.


Experience and Skills



The successful candidate must have at least 5 years' experience as a media production professional with hands-on experience in video production and storytelling, editing, and platform-specific content creation. Post-secondary teaching experience is a strong asset.



Required Skills:


Proficient with video production equipment, including cameras, tripods, microphones, and lighting kits. Proficient with video editing software, preferably Adobe Premiere Pro. Advanced knowledge of video production, including camera operation, lighting, and audio. Strong understanding of video performance and engagement metrics. Experience producing platform-specific video content (both short-form and long-form) aligned with a content strategy. Demonstrated proficiency with video post-production workflows, formats, resolutions, and codecs.

Preferred Skills


Experience in planning content strategy, including setting goals, identifying ideal platforms, and producing content tailored to those platforms Experience teaching post-secondary students in a variety of sub-disciplines (e.g. journalism, digital communications, visual arts/communications
