Job Summary & Key ResponsibilitiesThis 3-credit course focuses on clinical applications of drug therapies relevant to nurse practitioner practice. Students will be given the opportunity to gain knowledge in order to integrate pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic concepts for a chosen client population in their clinical setting and practicums. Students will gain therapeutic knowledge that includes the mechanism of actions, usual dosages, absorption, distribution, metabolism, elimination, and therapeutic use of medications. Principles of management for side effects and drug interactions of medications frequently encountered by nurse practitioners will be reviewed and applied. Additionally, students will be provided with the opportunity to identify and utilize timely and appropriate drug information resources that are applicable to their daily practice. Legal and ethical responsibilities related to pharmacotherapeutic interventions are addressed.This appointment runs from September 1 - December 31, 2024.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Development of teaching and learning activities related to the course
• Delivery and co-ordination of the course
• Assessment and evaluation of student learning
• Use of Brightspace for course delivery
• Responding to student queries about coursework
• Attending initial instruction with Instructional Learning Online services
• Participation in course discussions within the program
• Develop and administer examinations
• Submission of grades
• Follow up with students as necessary

Qualifications/Requirements of PositionCandidates must hold a graduate degree in Nursing ( Nurse Practitioner) and be licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Nova Scotia . A strong clinical background in pharmacotherapeutics along with prior teaching experience would be a asset. PhD preferred.
Salary Range/Pay Rate Per CUPE Collective Agreement
