Fence & Post is a small, independent casual fine dining restaurant in Cochrane, Alberta, known for our uncompromising commitment to quality and from-scratch cooking. Position: Pastry Cook / Baker (Part-Time)
We're looking for a
passionate, experienced, and self-motivated
pastry cook or baker to join our kitchen team. This is not an entry-level role. You
must have solid baking experience and be able to work autonomously
--often as the only person in the pastry kitchen during early prep hours.
This role requires the ability to:
Bake sourdough and other breads from scratch
Produce consistent, high-quality macarons
Temper chocolate for bonbons and confections
If you are not confident in these areas, this position will not be a fit.
This position starts early in the morning, making it ideal for someone who enjoys focused, independent prep work. We are open to both full-time and part-time applicants.
Key Responsibilities
Bake fresh sourdough and other breads from scratch daily
Prepare and churn house-made ice creams and sorbets
Craft seasonal and refined a la carte desserts for service
Produce artisan bonbons, macarons, and other confections
Set up and maintain an organized pastry station
Ensure high-quality plating and consistency during service
Maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards at all times
Monitor ingredient quality and assist with pastry inventory and ordering
Collaborate with the culinary team on seasonal dessert development

Requirements
Professional baking and pastry experience is required
Must be able to bake bread, make macarons, and temper chocolate with consistency
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong understanding of ingredients, techniques, and kitchen safety
Attention to detail and a high standard of cleanliness
Team player with good communication skills
Excellent physical stamina and time management
Availability for early morning shifts
