Reporting to the Manager, Property Standards and By-laws, this position is responsible for enforcing several City of Brantford By-laws, including but not limited to Property Standards, Lot Maintenance, Outdoor Signs, Fences and Swimming Pool Fences, Noise, Boarding, Zoning, Public Nuisance, Clean Air-Smoking By-laws and Provincial COVID-19 Orders. This position is also one of the lead enforcement agents to regulate encampments through the City\'s Encampment Network. This position may require attendance at Property Standards Appeal Committee hearings and Control of Vicious Dog Committee hearings. Duties are to be flexible as assigned and will include regular weekends, holidays and possible evening hours. This part-time position is anticipated to work primarily weekends and statutory holidays on day shifts (8:30 - 16:30) and/or evening/night shifts (16:30 - 00:30), subject to change. Occasional weekday day or evening/night shifts may be required. Duties include, but are not limited to: Conducting site inspections and gathering evidence, responding to general enquiries and effectively and efficiently dealing with complaints, maintaining accurate records and database management, issuing Part 1 Provincial Offence Notices, and preparing Part 3 Information\'s and Court briefs for court, and attending court to give evidence on behalf of the Corporation. Maintain positive, tactful demeanor in confrontational situations with the public, making on-the-spot decisions. Issue Notices, Orders and attend Property Standards Appeal Committee hearings and assist with community outreach and public relations activities. Assist with research for reports, writing reports, and other duties as assigned. Assist with bylaw enforcement issues by working with other departments including Clerks, Housing, Parks and Recreation, Engineering, Police, and the Brant County Health Unit.
