Our team has an opportunity for a Paraprofessional (Client Service) to join our robust and renowned 16-person US/Cross Border Tax team within our 28-person Tax team and grow along with BTNS! We will support you to do what you do best every day by offering you:

Your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Owning practice deadline lists using effective project management skills, including reporting to leaders in advance of deadlines, discussing preparer capacity with the team weekly, following up to ensure all deadlines are met, and monitoring Work In Progress and time keeping/billing for timeliness and accuracy.
  • Setting the practice up for success through strong practice management support with project set up, day-to-day solution creation, annual cyclical projects like internal template development, and advising on technology utilization or acquisition to better manage the practice, etc.
  • Supporting clients directly with information requests or non-technical questions, FTC T1 verifications, following up on signed pages, or sharing communication.
  • Coordinating and/or communicating with external professional networks regarding non-resident matters.
  • Supporting our Co-op Student program, including assistance with recruiting, interviewing, communicating with university liaisons, playing a mentor role for Co-ops, drafting performance reviews, etc.
  • Engaging hands-on in client set up and assembly of client files working as team alongside the practice administrator during peak client service season.
A successful candidate will have:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or directly applicable experience is required
  • 4+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in an administrative role in an accounting, financial services, or legal firm is required
  • Familiarity with Canadian and/or US taxes considered an asset
  • Direct experience with formal document requirements, strict deadlines, and high volume is required
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
  • Outstanding research, analytical, problem solving, and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Self-motivated with an ability to work independently and as part of a high performing team
  • Exceptional client service experience, preferably in a professional services environment
  • Excellent relationship builder whose communication skills shine in interactions with clients and colleagues
  • Technological strength with MS Office 365, Tax and Accounting software, time & billing systems, online portals, etc.
  • Willingness and commitment to learning and growth in a fast-paced environment
