Job Description


The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Lead, Collections, and Litigation Support, the Paralegal will assist various business units with counterparty disputes, including monetary disputes, and support the collections and enforcement processes. The Paralegal will also help with commercial litigation processes and liaise between various business units and the litigation teams.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Act as a first point of contact for various business units with counterparty issues or disputes
  • Assist various business units with the preparation of contractual notices and communications
  • Act as a liaison between various business units and legal teams (internal and external counsels) where a dispute needs to be escalated for legal consideration or action
  • Provide ongoing support to the litigation teams, including the electronic discovery process
  • Administer insolvency files and accounts, including periodically checking for status updates and exchanging relevant communications with receivers, trustees, and monitors
  • Administer builders\xe2\x80\x99 liens and contractors\xe2\x80\x99 liens files

Skills & Qualifications:
  • A Diploma from a 2 year Legal Assistant/Paralegal or a Petroleum Land Administration program
  • 5+ years of related industry experience in a land department, commercial operations department, legal department, or law firm
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, in particular, Word and Excel
  • Expertise in petroleum land systems and or accounting systems and electronic discovery
  • Familiarity with CORES, Civil enforcement procedures is considered an asset
