For our Production Plant in Port Colborne, Canada, we are looking for a Packaging Manager



Role Overview



As a key member of the Leadership Team, the Packaging Manager (PM) is responsible for the safe, efficient, and high-quality operation of the Packaging Department. The PM ensures established volumes of quality products are packaged and shipped to our customers, providing numerous quality checks to achieve 'zero-defects. Contributing to the establishment and maintenance of a safe workplace are the primary contributions of this position and to the overall success of the company.

Key Responsibilities



Oversee the packaging process for all products, ensuring compliance with safety regulations andquality standards. Develop and implement packaging strategies that prioritize safety and enhance product quality. Collaborate with R&D, production, and quality assurance teams to optimize packaging materials and processes. Conduct regular safety audits and quality checks throughout the packaging process and implement corrective actions, as necessary. Monitor machine performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize operational efficiency and uptime. Work closely with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to ensure timely and effective machine repairs and upgrades. Prepare reports on packaging performance metrics, highlighting safety incidents and quality improvements to management. Ensure Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) requirements are met for food safety. Deliver 'zero defect' packaged product volumes and warehouse shipments for delivery to customers. Implement practical continuous improvement Kaizen initiatives to improve operating results. Lead, train and mentor a team of packaging staff on best practices, safety protocols and quality control techniques. Maintain daily communication with the Purification and Order Processing Departments on the volume of products shipped and on the warehouse inventory level. Manage daily the forward-looking production plan to ensure volumes and granulations are provided "on-time" by Production Departments to meet orders. Monitor final product quality and granulation targets, re-book stock where necessary and provide feedback to production to ensure customer requirements are met. Lead by example, providing hands-on support when supervisory coverage is needed. Follow health and safety standards to prevent injury and actively identify and correct unsafe conditions and behaviors. Other duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications



BSc, BTech, or Engineering Technology degree in Chemical/Mechanical/Electrical (Mechatronics Engineering preferred). Minimum 5 years in a manufacturing management position preferably in food manufacturing or a related industry. Experience operating and troubleshooting form, fill, and seal (FFS) machines in a manufacturing or packaging environment is an asset. Strong understanding of packaging processes, equipment maintenance, and production workflows. Proven ability to lead and support teams through effective communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution. Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, and other regulatory compliance requirements. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Physically capable of lifting up to 25 kg, bending, standing for extended periods, and performing repetitive tasks.

Pay: $100,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
