About the Role



EastCann is currently seeking a Packaging Lead to help coordinate and oversee daily packaging operations. The Packaging Lead is responsible for ensuring tasks are completed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with regulatory and company standards, playing a vital role in ensuring production targets and compliance requirements are met. This role provides day-to-day leadership to the packaging team, including training support, inventory tracking, workflow management, and quality control, and serves as a key point of contact between the packaging team and management.

Hours of work: 7:30am-4:00pm, Monday-Friday

Key Responsibilities



Team Leadership

Lead a team of packaging technicians in a fast-paced, regulated environment. Assign daily tasks to meet production targets and ensure team members have the tools and materials they need. Assist with onboarding and training of new staff, reinforcing all protocols. Provide ongoing feedback, document minor performance issues, and escalate concerns to the Packaging Manager.
Production Oversight

Monitor daily packaging activities from bulk product to final casing, including sorting, rolling, labeling, and sealing. Ensure all processes comply with Health Canada regulations and internal SOPs. Perform in-process quality checks and maintain accurate documentation of weights, yields, and outputs. Oversee waste removal and cleaning procedures, ensuring environmental safety standards are met.
Inventory & Compliance

Manage packaging inventory, conduct routine checks on supplies, and report shortages. Verify, apply, and track excise stamps according to regulatory standards.
Operational Support & Reporting

Assist with basic equipment troubleshooting and coordinate minor repairs as needed. Communicate updates, issues, and suggestions to the Packaging Manager. Support preparation of daily/weekly production reports, including metrics on output, waste, and quality. Participate in safety meetings and support the implementation of new packaging processes and efficiencies.

What You Bring



Must be 19+ years old High school diploma or equivalent Ability to understand directions and execute tasks Reliable transportation to and from the facility Basic math skills Strong verbal and written communication Familiar with excel and other Microsoft office suite programs

Site Conditions & Physical Requirements



Comfortable with exposure to chemicals, fumes, dust, odours, extreme temperatures, and water. Comfortable wearing full personal protective equipment while on the production floor. Have the physical ability to sit, squat, bend, lift, push, pull 35 pounds Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
