This is a fixed-term contract position supported by external funding. The contract will run from

January to March 2025

, with the possibility of extension based on performance and available funding.

NAT (the Network for Applied Technology) is a nonprofit organization that helps students and early-career innovators use emerging technologies to solve real-world challenges.

Since 2019, NAT has engaged thousands of participants through hackathons, workshops, and community partnerships across Canada.

Position Overview



The Outreach & Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator plays a key role in coordinating NAT's external partners for our programs. A major portion of this role focuses on Problem Provider coordination.

Problem Providers are community partners from sectors such as health, research, industry, and nonprofits who bring real-world problems for teams to solve during NAT's competitions. They pitch their challenge, meet with teams, and provide guidance throughout the event.

Your responsibilities will include onboarding these partners, guiding them through the event process, communicating requirements and deadlines, and supporting them before, during, and after the hackathon.

You will also assist with event logistics, scheduling, communications, and on-site operations. This position is ideal for someone who is organized, outgoing, and comfortable managing many moving pieces.

Please note: This position is contingent on external funding and will only proceed if funding is secured.

Key Responsibilities



Outreach & Community Engagement



Attend community events to promote NAT programs, represent NAT professionally, and build relationships with prospective Problem Providers and community organizations. Share program information, answer questions, and gather interest for future collaborations. Help maintain an outreach pipeline by documenting leads, conversations, and follow-up actions.

Problem Provider & Stakeholder Coordination



Recruit, onboard, and support 20+ Problem Providers from research, healthcare, nonprofits, and industry. Maintain clear communication and guide partners through pitch prep, scheduling, matchmaking, mentorship, and judging. Track partner information, deadlines, and statuses using Google Sheets and CRM. Serve as the main point of contact between partners and internal teams. Keep all partner-facing resources up to date (FAQs, onboarding docs, checklists). Support partners during the event: check-in, transitions, Q&A, troubleshooting. Maintain alignment across all milestones: pitch day, development reports, live mentoring, judging, and post-event follow-up.

Collaborate with other coordinators and leads Keep shared schedules and documentation current Communicate progress and flag issues promptly

Reflection & Process Improvement



Gather feedback from participants and partners. Contribute to post-event reports and recommend improvements for future cycles.

Qualifications



Required



Experience organizing events, coordinating programs, or supporting community partners Comfort communicating with external stakeholders Ability to work independently and stay organized Interest in innovation and community-building programs

Preferred



Experience with volunteer management Familiarity with hybrid/virtual events Background in community engagement, operations, or outreach

Working Conditions



This is a hybrid position based in Edmonton. The student is expected to work in person 1-2 days per week and be available for key project milestones.

Pay: $17.00 per hour
